What do you believe?

As you begin your day today, ask yourself, “What do I believe?”

Do you believe you will have a good day, a fulfilling day, an enjoyable day? And if so, how do you know? Do you somehow ‘will’ it to be a good day, no matter what happens?

Or do you believe you will have a bad day, a sad day, an angry day? And if so, how do you know? Do you somehow ‘will’ it to be a bad day, no matter what happens?

In either case, what you believe will happen is exactly what ‘will’ happen.

Remember this… how your day unfolds does not depend on the weather, your job, you significant other, your kids, your finances, your living conditions, etc. It doesn’t depend on any of these things.

The only thing it depends on is what you believe.

Try this on for size: say, “I believe today is going to be a crappy day, filled with challenges, conflict, and disappointment.”

Can you almost feel yourself beginning to pull those things toward you? Say it again. I bet it starts to come even closer. You are beginning to believe it. And as those thoughts settle in a little deeper, you begin to find things in your day that could lead to disappointment, conflict, and an overall crappy day. You begin to find situations that support your belief that it will be a crappy day.

Now try this one: “I believe today is going to be a great day, filled with smiles, unexpected kindness, and something fun!”

Can you almost feel yourself beginning to pull those things toward you? Say it again. I bet it starts to come even closer. You are beginning to believe it. And as those thoughts settle in a little deeper, you begin to find things in your day that could lead to fun, happiness, and an overall good day. You begin to find situations that support your belief that it will be a great day.

As your beliefs go, so does your day go. In other words, you have a choice in how this day turns out.

So, as you begin your day today, what do you believe?
